Tableware, teapots and a bottle oven in the yard. Make the teapot every house in the country pours from.
The Potteries make the country's plates, cups and teapots in coal-fired bottle ovens, and a works is a yard of kilns, a slip house and a decorating shop full of skilled hands. A design that catches on can sell for years, and the fashion for bright Art Deco colour gives small works a chance against the old names. Lead glaze and silica dust harm the people who work with them, and the law is catching up with both.
