Tobacco, cigars, pipes and matches. Keep the street in cigarettes, one packet at a time.
Most men smoke and more women do every year, so the counter is busy from the first shift to closing. The makers fix the price on the packet and the margin with it, which leaves little to compete on but where you stand and what else you sell. Pipes, lighters, pouches and a tobacco blended to a regular's taste are where a tobacconist makes its money back.
